Accessibility at Boulder Yoga Studio

Our Approach to Teaching

Every teacher at Boulder Yoga Studio brings their own authentic style and expertise. We don't force classes into rigid formats, which means each one has its own personality. This page is meant to help you find the right fit for your body and practice level.

Our Space

Let's start with the reality: we're located on the second floor of an old Boulder building above Lucky's Bakehouse and there's no elevator access. This is less than ideal for our accessibility goals, but it's what we're working with. The stairs are standard and well-lit.

Class Recommendations by Mobility & Experience

Newer to Yoga or Working with Limited Mobility

Kaiut Yoga – Mondays at 12:00pm, Thursdays at 5:30pm
This is our most accessible regular offering. Kauit is contemplative, uses props extensively, and focuses on alignment and breath. Great for anyone wanting a slower-paced practice. Kaiut Yoga is a therapeutic yoga method developed by Francisco Kaiut that focuses on joint health, nervous system regulation, and functional mobility. It uses floor-based postures, long holds, and precise alignment to restore natural range of motion, reduce pain, and support long-term resilience rather than flexibility or fitness goals.

Hot Stone Sound & Restore – Fridays at 5:00pm
Deeply restorative with sound healing elements. Expect gentle movement, long holds, and plenty of props. Perfect for sensitive nervous systems.

We hope to be adding more Yin, Restorative, and Vin/Yin classes soon! We are a small studio and excited for future growth! If you’d like a specific kind of class please let us know!

Moderate Experience & Mobility

Most of our classes fall somewhere in the middle: expect authentic yoga that includes philosophy, pranayama, and movement. Teachers will offer modifications, and you're always encouraged to take what serves you and leave what doesn't.

Donation Based Vinyasa Wednesdays at 5:00pm
These vary by teacher but offer accessible vinyasa flow. Pay what you can.

Sunday Service
Sunday Service is an Align and Flow class at its core, but we call it "service" because it's more than just a yoga class. It's our weekly ritual, a sacred gathering space where the community comes together to mark the start of a new week.

Align and Flow
Focus on alignment principles with flowing movement. Great for building strength and awareness with mindful pacing.

Hatha
Traditional yoga with balanced attention to poses, breath, and philosophy. Steady pace with time to explore each posture. Depending on the teacher this class has the potential to be more challenging!

Challenging Classes (Strong Bodies & Experience Recommended).

Vinyasa II/III
Advanced vinyasa flow with complex sequencing, arm balances, and inversions. Expect a faster pace, creative transitions, and poses that require both strength and flexibility. You should be comfortable with chaturanga, updog/downdog, and basic inversions before taking this class.

Handstand Classes
Dedicated inversion practice focusing on handstand technique, drills, and progressions. Expect conditioning work, core strengthening, and time spent upside down. You should have a solid foundation in arm balances and feel comfortable kicking up (with or without a wall).

What to Expect

  • Props are available and encouraged – blocks, straps, bolsters, blankets

  • Teachers can offer modifications – but you know your body best, everything teachers say at Boudler Yoga Studio is a suggestion, not a command.

  • No rigid formats – classes reflect each teacher's training and style
